THE BELFAST BLITZ WALKING TOUR

In Easter 1941 over 200 German Luftwaffe bombers flew over Belfast dropping their deadly cargo on what was basically an undefended city. The death rate was so high that bodies and parts of bodies were laid out in St George's Market and the Falls Road Swimming Baths. The scars left on the city can be seen to this very day and on this tour they will be pointed out to you. All the myths will be laid to rest and you will be presented with the facts - unpleasant as they may seem. For example at the height of the blitz the head of the Belfast Fire Service was underneath his desk crying and the biggest problem facing the local ARP in the aftermath was not the damage but looting. We will dismiss the rumours which arose after the bombings and present you with the absolute facts.
